The second tropical depression of the season forms in the Atlantic

The second tropical depression of the season formed this morning off the coast of North Carolina, reported the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami.

The system has winds of 35 mph and is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm. It would be called Bill.

In the first bulletin issued by the CNH, the center of the depression was at latitude 35.0 °, longitude 73.7 °.

“The system should begin to weaken on Tuesday night and is expected to dissipate on Wednesday,” explains the CNH.

“The depression has about 24 hours over slightly warm waters in a low-shear zone to strengthen before it moves north of the Gulf Stream and disintegrates. Almost all intensity indications show the system turning into a tropical storm tonight, and considering the initial healthy structure, the official forecast follows that guide. The low pressure should lose tropical characteristics in approximately 36 hours due to very cold waters and will dissipate near Newfoundland in about 2 days, ”the bulletin’s discussion indicates.

The system could have winds of 50 mph.
