The Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Priandhi Satria confirmed the dust and mud problems in the test MotoGP Mandalika 2022 resolved.
It is known, the first day of the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP test which was held on Friday (11/2) had experienced problems. The circuit track is stained with mud to create dust.
The agenda for the first day of the test had to be postponed for 45 minutes from the original schedule. After cleaning, the racers were allowed to pave and Pol Espargaro came out as the fastest racer.
Different conditions occurred on the second day of the Mandalika MotoGP test. The track is clean and there are no complaints from the drivers.
“Everything is running normally and we hope that the next test can run as scheduled without any problems,” said Satria at Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Saturday (12/2).
The second day of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit began according to schedule, namely at 9.00 WITA or 08.00 WIB. The course of the test was also normal, the riders and the team again tested the bike to get the right setting.
On this occasion Andi again explained the chronology of pieces of mud on the alleged track from the marshall delivery bus.
At that time the race director ordered a red flag because of the dusty track conditions. However, the situation was finally resolved so that the first day of the test session could be continued to completion with an additional 45 minutes.
The MGPA & IMI technical team, and Race Director-Dorna Mike Webb, said Mandalika was a new circuit and it was natural that there would still be gravel and dust. However, the track already looks normal after cleaning.
The speed achieved by the racer is considered in accordance with MotoGP standards. In the morning the maximum speed can only reach 285 kilometers per hour, but in the afternoon the maximum speed can reach 314 kilometers per hour.
Mike Webb suggested, after the pre-season test, the circuit should be used often. Likewise, Priandhi also emphasized that the MGPA will perfect all circuit facilities and infrastructure ahead of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP on March 18-20.
“We have high safety standards with the assistance of several parties involved, such as the FIM, IMI, and Dorna.”
Simon Crafar, a former racer who is also an analyst and MotoGP reporter, stated that the tight competition in the first session was supported by the fact that the track conditions had improved 2 hours before the end of the test.
“There is no more dust and dirt ejected from their motorbikes. So, good lap times can be created,” said Crafar.
