The second round of presidential elections will be held in Moldova on Sunday. The struggle is between the current head of state, Maia Sandu, who is running for a second term, and the candidate from the opposition Socialist Party, Alexander Stoianoglo.
2,219 polling stations will open in Moldova and abroad. Of these, 231 plots are overseas. Polling stations will open at 7.00 (Moscow time 8.00) and close at 21.00 (Moscow time 22.00). All citizens of Moldova over the age of 18 have the right to vote.
The authorities introduced an innovation during the presidential elections – voting by mail. However, not everyone can take advantage of this opportunity, but only residents of the US, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway.

In the first round of elections, Sandu received 42.45% of the votes, Stoianoglo – 25.98%. The second round will be won by the candidate who receives the most votes, RIA Novosti clarifies.
