This Sunday, at 8:00 in the morning, the second building of the subdivision La Sierra in Tijuana, after the landslide caused by the intense rains of the last weeks of March.
The property began to detach little by little; first through the bottom of the south building, located on the Sierra Tarahumara ramp. The material fell on a property located under the slope of the mountain where the subdivision was located; however, the debris they did not affect the sidewalk or Cuauhtémoc Sur boulevard.
The collapse of the structure was complete. Due to the fact that the affected properties and businesses in the area were evacuated since the fall of the first building, no people were injured. Vehicular traffic was blocked since the fall of material was recorded.
The Municipal Government Secretary, Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, informed that city council personnel are working with the necessary machinery to remove the debris that fell on the two lanes of the boulevard that were closed to the passage.
He explained that the cleaning of the rubble is the responsibility of the Tijuana Secretary of Territorial, Urban and Environmental Development (SDTUA), through the Directorate of Urban Works and Infrastructure (DOIUM) and Municipal Public Services. He added that the estimated time to complete the removal of all material is three days.
The Municipal Government Secretary, Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, attended the place of the collapse; the director of Municipal Civil Protection, Bernardo Villegas Ramírez; the director of Firefighters, Rafael Carrillo Venegas; the director of Urban Administration, Ricardo Alfonso Güereña; and the delegates of Centro and San Antonio de los Buenos, Héctor Riveros and Komar Rivera, for the supervision of the cleanup works.
