The Ministry of Health notified this morning of the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines that were expected for yesterday and that has been delayed 24 hours due to logistical problems of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. There are a total of 11,700 doses on which the Principality, for security reasons, is hardly providing details regarding their transfer and distribution. Thus, he has waited almost two hours to reveal the receipt of the vaccines at 12:15 p.m. They have already been distributed by health areas III, IV, VII and VIII, with head in Avilés, Oviedo, Mieres and Langreo, respectively, and the vaccination campaign for older people living in the residential centers of Santa has resumed this afternoon. Teresa de Jornet (Avilés), Santa Patricia (Oviedo), El Padrún and Imperial Residences (Mieres), Vifasa and Chalet Imperio (La Felguera), El Dorado (Sama de Langreo), and part of the residents of the Multipurpose Resource Center ( CPR) by Laviana.
Tomorrow, the first vaccines will be administered in the rest of the health areas.
THIRD WAVE
The Ministry of Health assumes that, with or without a vaccine, it will be difficult for Asturias to sort out a third wave of coronavirus cases, surely linked to the relaxation of security measures that, why deny it, are accompanying the Christmas celebrations, as well as the influx to commercial and hotel establishments. If the worst predictions come true, that wave is going to hit us squarely in mid-January. We will see the response of the Government of the Principality. For now its president, Adrián Barbón, already gives some clue: he is convinced that the good figures that Asturias can boast of right now, after a terrible month of November in terms of deaths and infections, is due to such unpopular measures such as the closure of shops and hotels:
END OF THE YEAR
In relation to the next celebration in sight, which is expected to be especially complicated due to its characteristics – the New Years Eve– the Government Delegation in Asturias has addressed this morning to the Asturian Federation of Councils (FAC) to request the collaboration of all its mayors as guarantors of compliance with current regulations in relation to the occupation of rural tourism accommodation, one of the favorite destinations to say goodbye to the year. In a letter signed by the delegate Delia Losa, it asks not to fall into relaxation in compliance with these regulations in the face of the relentless advance of the pandemic. And in that sense, the rules are very clear: it is not allowed to stay in tourist establishments for leisure or family gatherings. It has been authorized the stay of people who come from outside Asturias to the place of habitual residence of their relatives or friends who come to visit. In any case, this does not suppose a dispensation with respect to the limits of groups of people and groups of coexistence. And it is recalled that in case of non-compliance with these provisions, both the owner of the rural accommodation and their clients are exposed to sanctions.
In any case, the Civil Guard has already started a contact campaign with the owners of rural tourism establishments to inform them about the regulations approved by the Principality on the occasion of the Christmas holidays.
