This Saturday, July 10, starting at 1 pm in Riga, in the yard of the “Ziemeļu Enkurs” brewery on Matīsa Street, the second city festival “Enkurfests” will take place, gathering fans of good music, beer and “street food”.
Last year, for the first time, “Enkurfests” dug out of the brewery premises and went to inhabit the territory next to them. The vivid performance of the punk rock band “PND” (as “hedliners” for a reason, the joke ensemble “Little Prince” was included in the program), as well as the relatively small visit to the festival day program, which could be explained by the unclear course of the cowpand pandemic, that people are reluctant to attend open-air festivals, which are held, figuratively speaking, “on the pavement” – in the city center. However, “Ankurfest” left a very good impression, so there is no doubt that it will be much more visited this year.
Last year, a total of about 400-500 people attended “Ankurfest”, this year it is expected to be about a thousand, but in general the capacity of the festival area is about 2000 people. Changes – this year the festival stage will be focused not on Matīsa Street, but sideways, towards Tērbatas Street. The musical program is very impressive: alternative rock and post-band band “Purple Negative”, very interesting “Four Minute Man”, young and talented Ventspils rapper March, representatives of the new hit wave “Chipsis and Dullais”, unsolicited She (Zelma Jēgere), screaming rock representatives, “Židrūns” supplied to “Golden Microphones” and no less award-winning post-metal group “Tesa”. DJ Toms Grēviņš will take care of the bubbling energy of the festival for the second year in a row.
This year, the team of “Enkurfesta” already in January began to identify opportunities and started preparations for the festival, so that by the time the events will be allowed, the festival’s artists would have already been completed and could give the starting shots for announcing “Enkurfesta”. Regular visitors to “Ziemeļu Enkura” already know that concerts, story and film evenings, as well as other events are still held in the brewery whenever possible.
“City festivals are a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon and evening, enjoying music with friends and not spending a lot of time or money traveling outside the city,” says one of the brewery’s owners, Aldar Dāvis Linde. He acknowledged that there were, of course, concerns about the uncertain epidemiological situation at the start of the preparations for the festival, but that a lot of preparations had been made to put everything in order.
The brewery pub “Ziemeļu Enkurs” is anchored in the center of Riga, Matīsa Street 8. In February 2018, the brewery opened its doors to visitors. Since then, dozens of different types of beer have been added to the regular circulation, and new beer recipes and varieties have continued to be created. A new beer will be created especially for the festival this year. Entrance to the festival territory, in the courtyard of “Ziemeļu Enkura” will be from 1 pm Tickets can be purchased on the spot in the brewery (20 euros), as well as on the website www.aula.lv (21 euros). Tickets will also be available on the day of the festival at the entrance to the territory of “Ziemeļu Ankura”, their price also includes the first beer (only 18+).
