The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sued entrepreneur John McAfee for promoting ICO projects on Twitter, and the US Department of Justice has filed tax evasion charges. McAfee has already been arrested in Spain and is facing extradition.

The SEC claims McAfee made more than $ 23.1 million in advertising for at least seven token sales that sold “digital securities.” According to the plaintiff, McAfee’s statements misled investors.

The entrepreneur, the SEC stressed, did not publicly disclose that he received remuneration from issuers, lied about the degree of his involvement in projects, and also used unfair trading practices, selling assets after active advertising (for example, scalping).
