Valentin Hristov – wanted with a European Arrest Warrant for the death of 18 migrants in the coffin truck, has been detained in Greece, BNT reported.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed the information.
According to sources of the National Television, Hristov was detained near the border between Turkey and Greece, on the road between Alexandroupolis and the “Captain Petko Voivoda” border crossing.
Valentin Hristov found out from the media that he was wanted – and last night. After that, he personally contacted the district prosecutor of Burgas to introduce himself and ask where to appear.
Hristov stated that he knows Viktor Kuzmov, the alleged leader of the migrant trafficking group, but does not know that he was engaged in such activities: “Yes, I know him. It’s no secret that we know each other. We are great friends. I know him more for 10 years”.
Hristov himself categorically denies that he was connected to the tragic case or that he was involved in migrant trafficking.
