– For us this is a tragedy, says Selma’s mother, Marianne Krogstad, to VG.

It is Hallingdølen who first mentioned that Pingu had disappeared.

The family was on their way home from a hotel by Bjørneparken in Flå, when they realized that a very special passenger was missing from the car.

– It was a completely horrible trip home without Pingu.

Since then, there has been an intense hunt for the small stuffed animal.

– I miss him very much. He was always with me. It has been a bit difficult to sleep without him, says Selma.

– And there have been some tears, adds the mother.

Travels pingvin

The first picture of Selma and Pingu was taken when Selma was six months old.

Since then, she has been strongly attached to the small stuffed animal from Hennes & Mauritz.

And the stuffed animal is not only important to Selma, but also to the whole family.

Because Pingu is a well-travelled little penguin.

– Selma’s grandfather travels a lot around the world. He used to take Pingu with him on his travels. Pingu has been to Jordan, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Denmark, says Marianne.

Pingu also has his own life jacket, hat and scarf.

– It’s just a stuffed animal – we know that. But for us and for Selma, he means a lot, says the mother.

Moved by commitment

In despair that Pingu was missing, Marianne wrote a Facebook post.

– That post has really taken off, she says.

At the time of writing, over 1,600 have shared the post and got involved in the hunt for the small stuffed animal.

– It is incredibly touching.

– The response has been absolutely fantastic. This shows that most people have had a stuffed animal, and understand the bad feeling Selma has now that Pingu is gone.

Marianne Krogstad is now offering a finder’s reward of NOK 1,000 if someone manages to track down her daughter’s dearest stuffed animal.

– Do you believe that Pingu will reappear?

– Yes, Selma answers firmly.
