The mobile caravan for cervical cancer screening will move on February 9, 2023, in Roadeş town, Brasov county, starting at 4:00 p.m., str. Principală no. 74.
Women aged 24-64 are expected to participate in cervical cancer screening, through free Babeş-Papanicolaou and HPV testing.
Women who come to the caravan for testing are asked to have their identity card with them.
Every year, over 4000 Romanian women are diagnosed with cervical cancer.
“Thousands of young women active in the family and in society get cervical cancer every year, one of the few forms of cancer that could be almost 100% preventable through early detection.
In the early stages, cervical cancer has NO symptoms. But advanced cervical cancer can cause bleeding after intercourse, bleeding between menstrual cycles, or abnormal vaginal discharge.
So ladies, take advantage of this opportunity and come get tested at the screening caravan. Screening can save your life!’’, stated Dr. Cosmina LONGthe project manager.
Detected in time, cervical cancer can be successfully treated and cured, which makes Pap smear and HPV testing all the more important for women’s health.
IMPORTANT!
Discovered and treated in the early stages, cervical lesions can be completely cured!
What does a NEGATIVE test mean?
If the screening test is negative, it means that there are no cellular changes in the cervix. Retest in 5 years!
It is important that the screening test is performed once every 5 years, in order to detect precancerous lesions in time and to be able to treat them immediately.
What does a POSITIVE test mean?
A positive screening test does NOT mean cervical cancer, but rather a red flag for further investigation. It can reveal a precancerous lesion, a condition that can be easily treated in a clinical setting. Precancerous lesions are easily treated and curable. Some women will need to carry out additional tests to be sure of the result.
All the medical services offered, namely specialist consultation, Pap test, HPV test, early diagnosis of dysplastic lesions of the cervix, colposcopy, excisional or ablative treatment of precancerous lesions of the cervix, social and psychological support, are FREE, being financed in within the project.
