Since its arrival on the Netflix platform in mid-September, the South Korean series Squid Game has been talked about a lot because of her extreme violence. It is also prohibited for children under 16.
Schoolchildren among the spectators
Faced with the media phenomenon of the start of the school year, the temptation to circumvent this ban unfortunately seems to have been overcome, as a school principal in Montluçon (Allier) observed.
“We noticed just before the All Saints holidays that children were watching the series. They talk about it among themselves and when they play “1,2,3, sun”, the child turns around and pretends, with his hand, to shoot the friend who has moved. It started again with the resumption of classes ”

The school has banned this kind of game and the teaching teams will take advantage of the discussion time with the schoolchildren to discuss the subject. “There is nothing serious at the moment. We are on prevention, ”recalls the director.
Prevention through dialogue also at college
In the colleges of Montluçon, where the students are also subject to the ban because of their age, the finding is similar.
“We know that some people watch the series because they talk about it, but they don’t play games inspired by Squid Game. The education advisor has nevertheless been actively vigilant since the release on Netflix. When we saw the hype around the series as soon as it arrived and the concerns it generated, we were immediately on prevention and there is no problem ”
Eric Laval (principal of Jean-Zay college)

At the Saint-Joseph college of the Sainte-Louise-de-Marillac Institution, Pascale Varenne, the director, also relies on the relevance of the dialogue with the students to evoke the phenomenon. She also believes that whatever the subject, dialogue remains one of the best means of preserving good living together.
Schools are also counting on the involvement of parents to support them in the face of the phenomenon. Squid Game.
