Libreville, Friday January 5, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The government announces that the precious pass will only be awarded to those students who have obtained an average of 12/20 in the first cycle and an 11/20 average in the second cycle.

We now know a little more about the criteria for awarding school grants by the government to secondary school students. According to the tripartite commission made up of the Ministry of the Budget, the Ministry of National Education and the National Scholarship Agency of Gabon (ANBG), this precious sesame will only be granted to students who have obtained an average of 12/20. in the first cycle and 11/20 average in the second cycle. And no longer 10/20 on average as before its interruption. This support from public authorities will only be paid to students in public, private secular and religious establishments recognized as being of public utility. “The criteria for the scholarships that were chosen is that in secondary school, for the first cycle, therefore from 6th to 3rd grade, you must have an average of 12. For the second cycle, from the second to the Terminale, you must have an average of 11,” Camélia Ntoutoume Leclercq insisted during a visit to Gabon 24.

According to the Minister of Basic Education, this scholarship aims to promote excellence. “We first worked on a legal plan to submit to the government a decree allocating secondary school scholarships. We have issued orders to set the terms of this scholarship,” she said. “We worked within the framework of this commission so that we paid at the end of January (…) As far as the public is concerned, we know exactly how many students had 12 in the first cycle, how many had 11 in the second cycle (… ) We want to pay, but if we don’t have all the data, it could cause a little delay,” she said.

All late heads of establishments are asked to send the minutes no later than January 8, 2024 in order to allow the deserving to benefit from them. “It will be paid in the establishments as at the time. The children do not need to travel,” recalled Camélia Ntoutoume Leclercq. While waiting for the school card, the Minister of National Education also specifies that the report cards designed via Xgest including photos and student identifiers will initially be useful for paying this allowance.
