It was August 2007, and the well-known photographer, now deceased, Antonio Catalán managed to capture with his camera
Letiziasailing the high seas, in a bikini. It was the most anticipated photo and it was published by the magazine Hello! The photographer’s telephoto lens had achieved
break the narrow security device surrounding the royal family to take the picture.
The then princess of Asturias looked, in the snapshots,
an elegant white bikini, and, sitting on the bow of the Fortuna, the royal yacht, she conversed with great complicity with Queen Sofía, who was wearing a red swimsuit, just the two of them. The then infantas Leonor and Sofía are not there, nor is the rest of the family.
It seems that the six images that the magazine bought had been taken, at a great distance, in a cove on the island of Cabrera,
a restricted area for its high environmental value and also controlled by the Army. In one of them, Doña Letizia is wearing diving goggles.
How much was paid for the photos of Letizia in a bikini
It was said that
the magazine paid 300,000 euros for the photos. The report drew attention because it also revealed
the closeness between the then princess and the queen, a complicity that over time has suffered ups and downs. The photos have not been seen again, because they belong to the magazine.
Two years later, in 2009, another paparazzi, Antonio Montero, captured photos of
Doña Letizia with a two-piecebut the Civil Guard sanctioned him for stepping on the rocks of the Cabrera natural park, from where he had taken the snapshots, and
the photos were never published.
Where they caught Queen Letizia in a bikini
In 2011, another telephoto lens once again circumvented, from the island of Cabrera, the strong security measures of the royal vessel, during the celebration of the Copa del Rey de Vela. On this occasion, we talked about
150,000 euros for the snapshotsalso published by Hello!, one of them on the cover.
The photos were part of an extensive report dedicated to the royal family’s vacations in Mallorca and in them you can see
Doña Letizia in a floral bikini strapless and protecting herself from the sun with a light-colored raffia hat.
The image on the cover of the magazine showed Doña Letizia sitting in a boat with her back to the camera with her husband, Prince Felipe, who was dressed as a sailor. The Queen is also on the boat, wearing a red swimsuit, and some of her grandchildren, including Victoria Federica and Irene Urdangarín.
The photos showed again
a very familiar picture of the Bourbons. The then princess of Asturias sunbathed on the deck of the Fortuna and also photographed her daughters, Leonor and Sofía, while they bathed with her father.
The images
debunked rumors of a bad relationship of Doña Letizia with her sisters-in-law, the Infantas Elena and Cristina, with whom she is seen conversing very relaxed. However, those snapshots were never repeated and the rumors became a fact some time later, with the outbreak of the Nóos scandal.
