“The district governor has obligations to monitor the legality of the territory of the district, my decision is lawful.” This was stated at a briefing by the regional governor of Sofia, Vyara Todeva, on the occasion of her decision to return for a new vote the composition of the committees in the Sofia Municipal Council.
Yesterday, her decision was attacked by the municipal councilors from GERB-SDS, BSP and ITN, who demanded her resignation.
“I see no reason to resign,” added Todeva. According to her, anyone can ask her to resign, but while she is the regional governor, she added that she will return any decision that is not legal.
“I returned due to substantial procedural violations committed, they must be re-voted, it is in the interest of the citizens that all decisions are legitimate and made according to the law. My role is to return every decision, regardless of the majority that made it,” said Todeva .
“The extraordinary meeting was not convened according to the rules, this can be seen from the minutes, the municipal councilors were aware of this. This meeting with the agenda was not announced in advance, the municipal councilors were not aware of the decision they had to make”. added the regional governor.
