The heroes of the latest episode of “Sprawa dla reportera” were Ewelina and Przemysław Kopczewscy, parents of 8-year-old Eryk, who was born with a complicated heart defect. The boy suffers from the underdevelopment of the left part of this organ. Parents found out about the defect already in the 20th week of pregnancy. Living in Great Britain at the time, they could legally terminate it, but they did not take such a step. Ewelina and Przemysław have now appeared in “The Case for a Reporter” to publicize the collection of funds for their son’s specialist treatment, which can only take place in the United States. In Poland, nobody wants to undertake it.
The calm conversation and the boy’s story turned into an argument between Maria Wentlandt-Walkiewicz and the child’s mother. – I cannot look at Eric because he is suffering. And this child must be helped. I have no objections to this – exclaimed lawyer Maria Wentlandt-Walkiewicz.
She suggested to Ewelina that in order for the child not to suffer, then in Great Britain she should have made a different decision and had an abortion. – A mother who loves a child has to consider what fate is possibly in store for him. Eric’s mother couldn’t stand it and started screaming. – I wouldn’t have a conscience, I couldn’t face myself! She said nervously, shaking and drinking water hungrily. – And do you have conscience to look into the eyes of a suffering child? – Wentlandt-Walkiewicz did not give up.
