The conflict between the Minister of Health and the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association has escalated after the confrontation they had outside the Plenary Chamber of the Parliament regarding the controversial article of the bill on the “completion of the psychiatric reform”, which provides for the requisition private doctors under the threat of stopping prescriptions.
During the discussion of the controversial bill, the “blue” politician and trade unionist, Thanasis Exadaktylos, visited the Parliament and submitted to the Parliamentary Groups a protest resolution of the P.I.S. against article 65, likening “in medical terms” the legislative persistence of Adonis Georgiadis to “chronic osteomyelitis”.

“The enactment of article 65 of the bill on mental health, in addition to the serious legislative flaws, as the Legal Service of the Parliament points out, will harm and permanently poison the relations of the entire medical world of the country with the Greek state” is marked in quotation marks in the resolution and the warning to Adonis Georgiadis is formulated that the activation of the provisions of the article “will bring about the absolute inadequacy of health services”.
The “threats, ironies, provocations and inconsistency of the Ministry of Health” are praised, while the consequences of the provision in question are paralleled with “chronic osteomyelitis”. “Indeed, a condition with relapses and exacerbations, daily discomforts, dirty wounds, multiple multiple surgical and therapeutic interventions that sometimes ends in amputation” explains the resolution, expressing concern for solving the shortcomings in the medical sector “of our European partners at the expense of the homeland us”.

Against the background of the specific resolution and the fiasco of the gathering of health workers outside the Parliament, Ad. Georgiadis and Th. Exadaktylos argued in the peristyle of the Parliament in front of members of the “blue” K.O. but also presidents of Medical Associations, who accompanied the president of P.I.S.
According to the information, the minister seems to have proposed to the already “hurtful” T. Hexadaktilo that a compromise solution be found, at the same time attributing to him responsibility for “union errors”. At that point, the MEP candidate with the ND objected that he would not set foot in the Ministry of Health again, causing intense irritation and the subsequent “shit” from Ad. Georgiadis.
The scene unfolded before the eyes of the secretary of the party, Maria Syrengela, and the MPs Periklis Manda, Thanos Pleuris, Tzenis Oikonomou, Nefeli Hatziioannidou and Teli Spania, who tried to act as fire extinguishers to prevent the conflict from escalating.
