Saudi-led coalition forces have blown up Yemeni’s capital Sana’a, killing 14 people and destroying two homes, medical reports said on Tuesday.
Sanaa has been occupied by Hutu rebels and the coalition attacked it a few hours after three people were killed in a Hutan drone and rocket attack on Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Monday.
The bombing of Sana’a killed Hutut brigadier general Abdalla Kasim al-Junaid, director of the rebel air force academy, and members of his family, the rebel news agency Saba reported.
Coalition forces then launched a few more airstrikes on Sana’a on Tuesday.
“Survivors are still being searched [sagrauto namu] in the rubble, “said Akrams al Ahdals, a relative of several victims.
The UAE has been involved in a Saudi-led military coalition since early 2015, supporting the Yemeni government in its fight against Iranian-backed Hutu rebels, who have repeatedly launched cross-border attacks on targets in Saudi Arabia.
The UAE has promised a harsh response to Monday’s attack on the Hut, the first Hut attack with human casualties on its territory.
Civil war has been going on in Yemen since 2014, when the Hutans occupied the capital Sanaa. 377,000 people have died in the conflict, millions have fled their homes, many are at risk of starvation, and the UN situation in Yemen is being called the world’s greatest humanitarian crisis.
