– We are a family that has rented a holiday home in Spain. Our flights from Northern Norway to Malaga are with SAS on 15 July. If there is still a strike and we do not get to Spain, will the travel insurance cover the loss for the house that we have paid?
We hope the strike is over before you go out on July 15th. The answer is that the insurance does not cover you if you are not allowed to use the prepaid holiday home, if the plane does not go due to a strike.
Regards Hege Karlsen, Gjensidige insurance.
The same applies to prepaid hotel stays and rental cars.
– Considering that many thousands are asked to submit claims for compensation to SAS, how long will it take to get a response?
You can submit your claim via the form at www.sas.no/feedback.
SAS now has a processing time of 4-6 weeks. It is expected that the treatment time may increase. During the spring, SAS has staffed the teams that work with this, and is working on solutions that will help handle matters more efficiently. We will continue to staff the teams to handle the cases as soon as possible.
We handle all claims as normal, and pay out continuously.
Sincerely, SAS.
Booked a trip to Palma with SAS. Is here now, but the flight back on Thursday 7 July was canceled, and a little later moved to 11 July. Fearing to miss opportunities, I ordered Norwegian tickets for the family on July 7, hoping to get a refund. Is this something I can bet on?
If your flight with SAS on 7 July has been canceled, and the option you have received from SAS does not fit, you can buy your own tickets yourself within the same service class. If this becomes more expensive, SAS will cover the gap.
Sincerely, SAS.
– The flight from Gran Canaria was canceled. We were going home yesterday, and have still not heard anything from SAS. We are sitting and thinking about whether we should book the first flight with SAS home to Norway. It does not go until July 12. Are we entitled to a refund for the flight and the extra hotel accommodation?
If you do not get an alternative and order a new ticket home with SAS on 12 July, SAS will cover the price difference. They also cover hotel accommodations within reasonable limits.
Sincerely, SAS.
I booked a hotel room in Gran Canaria. If I am rebooked for a flight departing one or two days later, am I entitled to compensation for this?
Yes, depending on the length of the trip, and how long the delay will be, you may be entitled to compensation. There are standardized rates for this.
Recommends that you check out the “calculator” on www.forbrukerradet.no/fly.
Sincerely, Andreas Handeland from European Travel Insurance and If.
