It is not yet the year of Ubisoft and unfortunately we do not have to expect a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the time being.
In 2020 the roof went off and I cheered for the revival of my favorite game from 2003. Now 3 years later, only an empty hourglass is left of the hype. Because where Prince of Persia was about moving forward and rewinding time, the development of the game seems to have stood still. After the revelation in 2020, Ubisoft received a storm of criticism. In particular, the graphics and the quality of the faces were considered very poor work. Since we are talking about a remake and not a remaster, the community had a valid point as far as I’m concerned.
A few months later, Ubi announced that it had taken the feedback to heart and showed a promising comparison, which indeed looked better. However, we are already a year further and it has remained silent around the game, until now. The game is in a concept phase again, according to producer Jean Francois Naud. Given that the prince should have made his appearance in 2021, it seems as if the game has been started all over again.
According to Naud, feedback has been gathered from the community since his team took over the project. A new team has also been set up and work is being carried out on testing elements, shaping priorities and assembling prototypes. Obviously, we shouldn’t expect to see The Sands of Time remake this summer at Ubisoft Forward. A release will therefore take a while. Undoubtedly to be continued.
