The San Silvestre de Oviedo has already exhausted the registrations for the adult test – it is still open for the children’s test – and, if it can finally be celebrated, it will be “a race for life.” This is how the president of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Association considers her, Pilar Fernández Pascual from Oviedo, who wanted to thank the City Council and the organizers of the test that the collection will go to her association: “We are very grateful, everyone money that is raised will go to a breast metastasis research project, “he explained. And, justified Fernández Pascual, metastatic breast cancer is “the leading cause of death for women between 35 and 50 years old.” In total, 6,600 women died last year throughout Spain.
Conchita Méndez, Councilor for Sports of Oviedo, for her part, stressed that the adult race has exhausted registrations, leaving only places free in those for children. Although, aware of the health situation, the mayor pointed out that they continue with the planned “roadmap”, but acknowledged that they are “expectant”: “We will see how everything evolves, if the health situation allows it there will be San Silvestre” he added.
