The Samsung Expert RAW app offers a new feature. Will you try it?

  • Samsung has added a useful feature to Expert RAW
  • Although the ND filter is only software, it can help in many situations
  • It is part of the latest update that is now available on the Galaxy Store

Samsung updates the app quite regularly Expert RAW, which you can download from the Galaxy Store if you own one of the newer flagship phones. The app lets you manual control of parameters, but also some exclusive gadgets such as the possibility to take astrophotos. Now the South Korean company has brought us another useful gadget. What’s going on?

Expert RAW now allows you to turn on the so-called ND filtr. On (mirrorless) cameras, the filter actually turns on, of course the software helps here. And what is it really about? We can think of an ND filter as sunglasses for camera, which prevents the photo from being overexposed/overexposed. Therefore, if you are shooting a bright scene with a slow shutter, using such a filter is desirable.

Make sure you have the latest version of Expert RAW (or update in the Galaxy Store) to access the feature. After that, just go to the App Settings, go to the “Expert RAW Labs” menu and turn on the “ND Filter (Neutral Density)”. After activation, you will see the letters “ND” in the upper right corner, through which you can set the filter from 2 to 1000. At this moment, you can take pictures only 12MP images, in 50MP mode the ND filter does not work.

How often do you use Expert RAW?
