The sale of cigarettes to persons under the age of 21 is prohibited in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: The Shura Council has tabled an amendment banning the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products to children under the age of 21 in Saudi Arabia. If a special area is set up in non-smoking areas, no persons under the age of 21 are allowed in these areas.

At present, the sale was prohibited to minors under the age of 18.

Section 7 of the law strictly prohibits smoking in public places, including schools, banks and hotels. Section VIII of the Anti-Smoking Law states that cigarettes and tobacco products must only be sold in sealed packages containing the number and quantity determined by the relevant legislation.

Section 7 of the law prohibits smoking in places around churches, ministries, government departments, public institutions, educational, health, sports, cultural and social institutions.

The law also prohibits smoking in the workplaces of companies, institutions, factories and banks, in public transport systems, in places where food and drinks are prepared, in places where gasoline is prepared, packaged, removed, distributed and processed. and petroleum products, petrol cubicles, gas distribution centers, elevators, restrooms and warehouses.
