One time it was a clear thing, then another improbable. With the transfer deadline approaching, however, talk of Patrick Kane’s transfer to the New York Rangers started again. And they couldn’t resist that in the Manhattan offices. Now it’s all done, Kane is headed to the Big Apple.
But there was quite a carousel around it. The accountants in the Rangers organization should get a raise because they did a brilliant job of this. Chessing with players to the farm and back has proven to be effective. And also key to Kane coming.
Due to the details, the transfer will not be official immediately. But most of the details are already known.
With Rangers being the only destination Kane was willing to head to, the consideration was expected to be really rather symbolic for a player of his stature. And so it happened.

Patrick Kane should head to New York for the 2nd round (could become the 1st round) and 4th round of the draft.
He could make his debut tomorrow in Philly…where he scored his most famous goal.
It would be nice to see him put the first one in a Rangers jersey there as well. https://t.co/mLRULt6xXl

A fourth-round pick and a second-round pick are headed to Chicago. However, the second round could change to the first if the Rangers reach the conference finals this season. However, Rangers general manager Chris Drury has negotiated a potential first-round pick in 2024 or 2025.
What about Kane’s monster salary? Half, i.e. five million dollars, is kept by Chicago, the Rangers will swallow it on Thursday, and the rest will be helped by Arizona, which as a reward receives a selection in the third round of the draft in two years.
In the later hours, the trade should officially go through all the checks and approval by the league. Kane should make his debut in the Riders jersey on Thursday night against Philadelphia.
