[OSEN=김수형 기자] ‘Scoop World’ revealed the current state of Baek Chan-ki, who is now well over 70 years old and went from being an actor to selling fishing gear, and his desperation for his daughter, whom he cannot contact, added to the sadness.
On MBN’s ”Star Documentary Scoop World” broadcast on the 5th, the current status of actor Baek Chan-ki, who played an active part in dramas in the 80s such as ‘Land’, ‘Startup’, and ‘Moontown’, was reported.
Baek Chan-ki, who once worked with actress Jang Mi-hee. In the play, he played the role that Jang Mi-hee had a crush on. Baek Chan-gi, now 75 years old, was currently carrying a box of fishing supplies. He said he imports bundled weights and supplies them at fishing supply stores. Since he didn’t have an office, he started doing this by traveling around in a van. It turned out that it was a recommendation from junior actor Jeong Heung-jo. Although he has no income yet, he said he is happy to have something to do as he approaches 80.
I asked him why he left behind 40 years of acting and went into selling fishing gear. He said, “The generation gap has changed. Younger people are coming in, and older people are moving around like this.” He, who once played the role of Jang Mi-hee’s crush in the drama ‘Daltown’, said, “It was my first starring role with Jang Mi-hee, and I was really nervous, but I told her to take it easy. It was the time when Jung Yoon-hee and Jang Mi-hee were the top girls.” He added, “When I go out, people criticize me for being ugly and saying I don’t like pretty girls.” “I said, ‘If I go there, everyone just talks about ‘Daldongne’.”
However, it has been about 10 years since he retired from being an actor Baek Chan-ki. His life also changed. He stopped by a traditional market near his house, looked at the market, and headed home. Baek Chan-gi, who settled in an old villa village on a steep hill. He was living alone. He recalled his family, saying, “I earned a monthly salary of 300,000 won, paid for bus fare, recording, and lunch, but living expenses were not enough. (Even though I was a family of four), I only ate money for the children and homemade food, and I felt sorry for not being able to do it all the time.” .
Also, Baek Chan-ki, who has recently suffered from hardships in life. Due to bad credit, he had to file for bankruptcy and live separated from his family. He said, “I thought that people end their lives when they are in difficult times,” and spoke about the crisis that forced him to go to extreme lengths.
The next day, after dressing up neatly, we headed somewhere. No matter how busy you are, there is a place you can go to. It was the charnel house where her wife was sleeping. He said, “She was the most important and respected person,” and that he had lost his wife seven years ago. He said to his wife, “The cirrhosis of the liver suddenly turned into cancer, so I couldn’t wake up. I should have gone to a big hospital, but my wife said she didn’t want to go because it was a waste of money, and it got so bad. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you,” and her eyes were filled with tears. .
Moreover, Park Chan-gi also showed conflict with his children. “Her daughter doesn’t talk to me, she doesn’t want me to say anything, she just wants me to bury her,” he complained in front of his wife’s portrait. And that night, after some hesitation, she called her daughter, but her daughter did not answer. It turns out that after her divorce, she couldn’t pretend not to notice her daughter, who had a hard time raising her two children, and her loans grew so much that she even had to take out the deposit on her house.
He said, “My daughter asked me to borrow her credit card, so I blocked 70% (of the loan), but in August of this year, I couldn’t possibly pay it back, so I filed for bankruptcy.” He then revealed the true story, saying, “I thought (my daughter) would not contact me because she was shameless, so I thought she would avoid me, so I just buried it.”
The next day, I met actor Lee Chang-hwan, who played the role of the late President Park Chung-hee in ‘Pastoral Diary’. After learning of Chan-gi Park’s bankruptcy filing, he shared information about auditions for senior actors. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “If it’s my character, I want to work hard.”
But that evening, his steps became heavy. An officetel with quite old, neglected mail. It was an officetel where my daughter lived. She was worried that something might have happened to her daughter as she had not been able to contact her and saw months worth of mail piling up. He rang his bell with a trembling hand, but no one came out, so he just hung around to see if they would see his face. He was just worried about where her daughter lived. Park Chan-gi said, “I’m worried that if I don’t give my daughter money because she needs it, she might steal it. “Then his parents are heartbroken,” he said, expressing only his regret.
And that night, he wrote a letter telling his daughter what he couldn’t say. Park Chan-gi said, “If I were a rich dad, would my daughter be worried about this? It’s all my fault,” and expressed her feelings, saying, “I want to cover up what wasn’t there and live hard.” Actor Park Chan-gi started a new beginning at the age of 75. Many people also cheered for his sincerity and efforts to reach his daughter. /ssu08185@osen.co.kr
