The sacks with over 205 million of Tsvetan Vassilev were exported by the Corporate Commercial Bank as marriage. This is one of the main versions of the prosecution, high-ranking prosecutors announced. It is currently being checked whether the banknotes have not been removed from the vault as “perforated” – unusable. That way, their cargo would not be visible, investigators explained. According to them, the colossal amount of money may have been flown abroad in a private plane.

However, the second hypothesis of the accusers is that Vassilev’s millions did not leave Bulgaria. The probability that more than 93 million euros, more than 23 million leva and 45 thousand dollars withdrawn from KTB are still in storage in our country and slowly – in small amounts – will be transferred to banks abroad. The introduction of a large amount of money into circulation via banking would not have gone unnoticed, the investigators are emphatic.

Members of the Board of Directors of KTB have agreed to cooperate with the prosecution and have revealed a large part of the scheme to drain the bank, sources from the Court House confided. The information was also confirmed by the banker and former finance minister Stoyan Alexandrov. “I have secret information that two of the top management of the bank are protected witnesses. Perhaps when they saw that such money was being withdrawn, their morals did not allow them to be inactive,” he commented to Nova TV. Alexandrov confirmed that the money of all companies and citizens, including those over BGN 100,000, will be protected.
