The Sabers are confirmed by Granato as head coach

Granato has become the 20th head coach in the history of the club.

It has already been reported that in mid-March, the club dismissed German specialist Ralph Krieger from his position as head coach, becoming Granato as his acting director.

The 53-year-old Granato “Sabers” joined as coach’s assistant before the 2019/2020 season.

The Granato 28 players spent the break getting a rerun of the team’s tactical organization and regained a solid organization when the game started again. Dylan Cassens, Cayce Mittelstad and Tage Thompson spent the best part of their careers.

Granato’s head coach has been in competitions of various ranks for nearly three decades, beginning in 1993 with the US Hockey League (USHL) and the Wisconsin Capitol. He has won USHL (1996) and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) (2000) championships and was named American Hockey League (AHL) Coach of the Year in 2001.

Granato spent five seasons as head coach at the NHL club’s St. Louis Blues system club in Worcester, but for the first time in the 2005/2006 season, he started working as an assistant coach. He later worked for five seasons as head coach in the U.S. national team development program.

Granato has won gold and silver medals in the U-18 World Championship with the USA national team and won bronze in the men’s World Championship in 2018.

Granato returned to the NHL as Joel Queensville’s assistant to the Chicago Blackhawks team in the summer of 2017, but two years later became Sabers’ assistant head coach.

Last season, Sabers earned 37 points in 56 games and finished last in the league.
