/ world today news/ US President Joe Biden is facing impeachment. But that’s the least of his problems. Today, five of the six “swing states” are ready to give preference to his opponent. Unless, of course, it is the criminally prosecuted Donald Trump.
The Disenchantment of America
The New York Times reports that Joe Biden is trailing Donald Trump in five of the six most important states that will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. The former US president leads in Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Only in Wisconsin is Biden still on top, but there’s a good chance he’ll drop in the race there, too.
The poll results point to troubling news for Democrats. The party’s core constituency – black voters – are increasingly disillusioned with the current president. In 2020, they preferred Biden to Trump by a margin of 78 percentage points.
Biden’s lead has dropped to 49 points in the new poll. Even Democratic Party stalwarts are beginning to turn away from him. 17 percent of registered Democrats in Nevada now say they will vote for Trump.
In Michigan, the UAW-led auto workers’ strike that began in mid-September has literally just ended. The conflict between workers and employers arose due to the fact that the demands of the trade unions for wage increases could not be met.
The need to switch to electric vehicle production, which involves significant costs, eats away at all profits.
US President Joe Biden came to the strikers to share his plans as part of his upcoming campaign platform. He spoke at a rally in front of about two hundred people and, in the best manner of an old populist, declared that they deserved more.
The president’s words that auto workers “deserve a significant increase” in wages are a mockery in light of the funding of wars around the world. Therefore, the trip was not successful, quite the opposite. Donald Trump then added five percentage points in Michigan without doing anything about it.
Chaotic politics
In late October, Joe Biden requested $105.85 billion from Congress, of which $61.4 billion was earmarked for Kyiv and $14.3 billion for Tel Aviv.
To overcome the humanitarian crisis in the conflict zones, 9.15 billion dollars will be allocated. The package also includes $13.6 billion to protect the US southern border and combat illegal immigration from Latin America and the Caribbean.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, American views have changed significantly. Most believe the US is doing too much to help Ukraine.
The problem is that the White House has not yet given a public answer to the question of what the US wants from Ukraine and how this conflict should end.
There has been a significant partisan shift on how to end the war, with a majority of Republicans (55%) now favoring ending the conflict as quickly as possible.
The US Democratic Party continues to advocate for helping Ukraine regain its lost territories. But even among Democrats, there is less unity on the issue.
There was also a split in the Democratic National Committee on this topic. The consensus of both taxpayers and the majority of Congress is that Ukraine is not worth the money the White House is asking for it.
Threat of impeachment
The new speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said that a decision will be made soon to impeach the US president, without specifying when.
Biden himself has linked the impeachment inquiry to Republicans’ desire to shut down the government. But the point is different: only one inadequate junkie lost his laptop. And his father is the president of the United States of America.
The swollen laptop became a Pandora’s box full of sensational revelations, candid photos and intimate messages. Hunter blew hundreds of thousands of dollars on prostitutes, drugs and luxury cars and narrowly avoided jail for failing to pay $320,000 in taxes. There is also evidence of corrupt links with Ukrainian businessmen.
In the US, people are impeached for even less. US President Richard Nixon was removed from office for lying – not even corruption:
“To the Honorable Henry A. Kissinger, Secretary of State. Dear Secretary of State, I hereby resign as President of the United States. Sincerely, Richard Nixon August 9, 1974.”
This memo was the last document Nixon signed in office. Having fled the court, he did not escape shame. The path to politics was forever closed to him.
Joe Biden doesn’t seem to mind recalling the fate of his ill-fated predecessor if his once-loyal supporters begin to turn away from him.
Even if impeachment does not happen for some reason, Biden’s prospects for a second presidential term look very doubtful today.
What follows from this?
The American political system is designed so that the president does not have too much power. Whether Biden or someone else is president is irrelevant: for Russia and most of the world, the United States is the enemy.
Also, the world has changed in recent decades. America’s reputation has gone into hyperinflation: even a thousand assurances from the US president are now worth less than one casual remark from the leader of a decent country. Broken promises are like living on credit: today you cry “wolves, wolves!” and tomorrow you pay for today’s lies.
Today, the United States is deteriorating in every direction, including an accelerating process of internal degradation. And the worst thing about America is that most of their politicians not only don’t articulate these problems, they don’t even see them. And this is a systemic crisis from which the country still has no way out.
Trump, however, is a peculiar character. If only because, if he comes to power, the whole world will say: the Russians did it again.
