Oleh Synehubov, the head of the military administration of the Kharkiv region, said that the situation around Kupjansk is the worst in the whole region these days. The Russians are increasing the fighting situation towards the city, they have made 26 attacks in the last day, introduced by Ukrainian Justice. According to Syněhubov, the defense forces have stopped all enemy attacks so far.

But the authorities can no longer guarantee that people will be given electricity, water or humanitarian aid. Due to constant Russian shelling, repair crews are unable to operate.

The mandatory evacuation order also applies to three other municipalities near Kupjansk, near which the front line passes. “In addition to the city of Kupjansk, people will be evacuated from the towns of Kindrashivka, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, as well as the town of Borovsk in the Izjum region,” said Synehubov.

Kupjansk is located on the Oskil River. There are about 4,000 people on the east bank, and about 3,000 on the west bank. Over the past month, 234 families with children left these places, now due to the worsening situation, a mandatory evacuation applies to all civilians. “There are still 35 children left to evacuate,” Syněhubov said.

Russian troops occupied Kupjansk in the first days of the offensive last February. Ukrainian troops pushed them out of there during a counter-offensive in September 2022, but the Russians are constantly attacking the city.
