For this they can deprive not only a career, but also freedom.
The status of hockey as one of the toughest sports is undeniable. Joints, wrestling and ice brawls will surely not surprise fans. However, in the match of the Moscow amateur hockey league “Labor Reserves” there was complete madness …
During a break in the game, the Leopards player went up to one of the referees and hit him on the head with a stick with all his might, and even added a blow to the body with a skate …
This should be prosecuted!
Complete dirt
The season in the amateur hockey league “Labor Reserves” started recently. In the 2nd round match of the Antares division on November 19, Leopards and REVOL ICE met at the Chkalov Arena Ice Palace. In the middle of the second period, the guests were leading with a score of 5:3, however, during one of the breaks in the game, one of the Leopards players caught the words with the referee, and then there was a madness complete …
The 42-year-old defender of the starters Nikolai Rizin abruptly turned around, went up to the referee and, with a frantic swing, hit him with a bat right on the head! Also, the hockey player added a hit to the body with a skate to the referee who fell on the ice. Rizin was immediately pushed away by the referee by other players, whereupon he left the site. At that moment, the injured referee was already assisted: he could not continue his work.
What’s especially interesting is that the hockey player who hit the referee had Utenkov’s name on his sweater, but the league’s official statement says it was Rizin who attacked the referee. After this incident, the match ended ahead of schedule – the teams played the remaining half of the second period, and then the Leopards suffered a technical defeat.
The League has already reacted
Soon after the incident, police officers were called to the arena to investigate the merits of the attack. After the match, the press service of the Labor Reserves issued a statement stating that the League does not and will never accept such behavior on the part of teams and individual players. And the sports and disciplinary committee will take the toughest measures against Rizin.
Any other decision, short of a lifetime ban from playing in any official competition, is unlikely to seem right. Moreover, for such an act of this “sportsman” it is clearly necessary to prosecute. Nothing is known yet about the injured referee’s health, but whatever the consequences for the referee, Rizin will face the harshest punishment.
