The Russian Foreign Ministry is outraged by the inaction of the German authorities in relation to the attack on our embassy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation expressed its indignation at the lack of an adequate response by the German authorities to the attacks on Russian diplomatic missions.

The corresponding statement of the official representative of the M departmentAria Zakharova published October 15 on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was a reaction to the incidents in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main on October 10, when the Russian embassy and consulate were hit by balloons and bottles of paint.

According to Zakharova, the Russian side insists on the real, and not formal, fulfillment by the German authorities of their international legal obligations to ensure the security of foreign diplomatic missions.

Moscow recalled that these rules are enshrined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. In this regard, the Russian embassy issued a note of protest to the German Foreign Ministry.

He claims that German law enforcement “did not and did not attempt to provide any opposition” to the vandals and none of them were arrested.

Zakharova expressed hope that the security of the Russian embassy and consulates general in Germany will now be strengthened. The foreign ministry representative stressed that ignoring such “concerns and requests” would be perceived as a “conscious hostile decision”.

As reported by the daily Frankfurter Allgemein, on the evening of 10 October unidentified people threw six balloons and two bottles of red paint at the Russian embassy. They hit the door and the railing of the building, there were no casualties. The police would have launched an investigation.

Recall that on September 20 the chairman of the investigative committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin charged with initiating criminal proceedings on the fact of the attack on the Russian embassy in Canada. The day before, an unidentified person threw a Molotov cocktail on the mission premises.
