The head of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, instructed the senators to prepare and send a request to the Parliament of Armenia in connection with the alleged anti-Russian statements of Speaker Alen Simonyan.
“European Truth” reports about this TASS.
Speaking at the conference of the heads of the parliaments of the European Union states, Simonyan, in particular, said that given that “the focus of the conference is on the issue of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the Middle East conflict”, he would like to confirm that Armenia “resolutely defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine , as well as Moldova, Georgia, Cyprus and all countries”.
“I would like to ask my colleague, the head of the Parliament of Armenia, a question: on whose behalf did he voice such stories? Certainly not on behalf of the Armenian people, with whom Russia has age-old friendship. We cannot ignore such Russophobic statements.

I would send a written request to the Parliament of Armenia on whose behalf he spoke and whether the Parliament of Armenia shares the assessments expressed at this meeting,” said Matviyenko.
She expressed hope that the country’s parliament will ask the speaker “who gave him the right to speak on behalf of Armenia with such passages, and will also give an assessment.”
“We will not ignore this kind of Russophobic, anti-Russian speech. It was simply a shame for our colleague that he stood up for all the “red lines,” Matvienko said.
Recently, relations between Russia and Armenia have cooled, prompting accusations from Moscow against Yerevan. Armenia has expressed dissatisfaction with the inaction of Russia, which heads the CSTO security organization, and the Armenian authorities have publicly expressed interest in closer relations with the EU.
