The Russian Cultural and Information Center in Bulgaria has a new director – 2024-09-10 06:32:22

According to Zhuravlev, the initiatives of RKIC and Rossotrudnichestvo should be understandable to people and implemented with maximum interaction with possible partners, so that the friendship between our fraternal Slavic peoples can deepen even more. In 2017, he plans to continue paying special attention to the preservation of historical memory, including by marking the anniversary of the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation (1877-1878), discussing issues related to the falsification of history and celebrating other memorable dates in the general history of Russia and Bulgaria. 2017 will mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad, and 2018 marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk, Zhuravlev recalled.

A priority in the work of the Bulgarian representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo is education, especially efforts to attract Bulgarian students to Russian universities. In 2017, 300 students are expected to enter this program.

Active efforts are also being made to form a positive image of Russia, including through Russian language training programs, promotion of Russian cultural achievements in Bulgaria, expansion of cooperation in the field of education and science, strengthening of ties between Russian and Bulgarian cities and regions, noted Zhuravlev.

A particularly promising direction in the activities of RKIC is the work with compatriots living in Bulgaria. “Their number is growing. I hope many of them will become our advisors, helpers, active participants, friends,” said the director of the center.

The program of Rossotrudnichestvo and RKIC for 2017 also includes a number of cultural events, including through the open project “Art Scene of Shipka”, which attracts a wide range of cultural figures from Bulgaria and Russia. For the little ones, this autumn the project “RKIC for Children” was launched, which includes a weekly “Animation morning”, creative classes, holding a “Children’s book morning” in the library of the RKIC, musical events. All these events are absolutely free, the director of the center emphasized.

In the past year, RKIC launched the “Mobile Library in Russian” project, which has already visited Ikhtiman, Veliko Tarnovo, Kardzhali, Stara Zagora. In 2017, its geography will expand even more, Zhuravlev added.

The “Friends” restaurant is also operating again, where it now has a new interior and menu, focusing on accessibility and interesting offers for all tastes.

At the end of 2016, RKIC hopes to become one of the central venues for New Year’s children’s performances. An extensive New Year’s program has already been developed, including performances in Bulgarian and Russian. In the lobby of RKIC there is a mailbox where anyone can drop off their letter to Santa Claus.
