Cairo – Live: Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehmer confirmed that the Russian company “Gazprom” has stopped the delivery of gas to the Austrian National Oil and Gas Company. “OMV” Starting today, Saturday.
Nehmer said in his statements today: “I can promise citizens that no one will freeze in Austria due to the lack of gas, and no apartment in Austria will be cold,” stressing that the Republic of Austria cannot to be blacked out.
The Austrian Chancellor explained that Gazprom deliberately failed to deliver the agreed gas quotas again with the aim of putting pressure on Austria to withdraw the sanctions policy within the European Union against Russia .
He said: “Despite this, gas storage facilities in Austria are 93% full, and the strategic gas reserve amounts to 94.5 terawatt-hours.”
He confirmed that this strategic reserve is enough for more than a full year for all of Austria, explaining that this reserve was 75.6 terawatt-hours in 2023.
