“The actions of the officials of the Russian Church resemble a classic intelligence activity. And people who went to scratch there, may have been used without even knowing.” This is what the former Minister of the Interior Prof. Veselin Vuchkov commented to bTV.
According to him, counterintelligence has been in DANS since 2015 and they should have known what was happening in the church.
“If our services do not know that there is a military organization in practice in the Russian church, this resembles a typical intelligence espionage activity. It seems to me that even though Bulgaria is a small country, it still has some kind of immune system, and it would follow that relevant structures, which were created just for this, actually react,” he said.
He explained that he had once proposed creating a service modeled on the German one by merging two intelligence units.
“However, then it was decided not to merge military intelligence and the State Technical Operations Agency (DATO). That conversation is coming up again today. The proposal of Gen. Atanasov deserves attention,” said Vuchkov.
