The Russian authorities are beginning to acknowledge their participation in the Second Karabakh War.
The administration of the city of Mirny (Yakutia) spoke about the occupier Igor Tazhibaev, who fought in Nagorno-Karabakh and Ukraine.
Describing the “exploits” of their “hero”, the Russian authorities stated that special forces fighter Tazhibaev had recently returned from the so-called “SVO” zone: he was sent to the Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions.
“Igor Tazhibaev told the guys that he volunteered for the “special operation” zone in August 2022. This is the second “hot spot” of our countryman – he previously fought in Nagorno-Karabakh“, – so in the Russian Federation for the first time they recognized that the Russians fought in the war against Azerbaijan.
Also on July 7, in Solikamsk, Perm region, Andrey Kovalev was awarded the Zhukov medal for participation in the Second Karabakh War.
“The Zhukov medal is awarded to military personnel for courage, dedication and personal courage shown in combat operations in defense of the Fatherland and state interests of the Russian Federation“, – explained in the Russian media, without specifying the connection between the war in Karabakh and Russia.
As previously reported, in May 2023, a new exacerbation: the parties exchanged mortar strikes, and also used shock UAVs.
Later, Armenia abandoned its claims to the disputed territories. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declaredthat the territory of Azerbaijan recognized by Armenia includes Nagorno-Karabakh.
