Sudden and mysterious personnel affairs, the army that is rampant with Putin’s “ flatterer ” is inevitable

On December 31, 2018, President Putin visited the Southern Military District Headquarters in Rostov-on-Don, the capital of Rostov Oblast, and presented a medal to Commander-in-Chief Slovikin, also known as “General Armageddon.” Just over 10 days later, Slovikin was demoted to deputy commander (photo: Reuters/Aflo)

[London]Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has appointed Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, the head of the uniformed army, as commander-in-chief of a “special military operation” against Ukraine, the Defense Ministry said on Monday. “General Armageddon” Sergey Slovikhin, who was appointed commander-in-chief last October, was demoted to one of three deputy commanders.

The other two deputy commanders are Oleg Salyukov, Chief of the Russian Army (General) and Deputy Chief of the General Staff (Colonel) Alexei Kim.

“The purpose of raising the command level of special military operations is to expand the scope of the task, to increase the close coordination between the various branches of the armed forces, to improve the quality of logistics and the efficiency of commanding troops,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. However, the appointment of the chief of staff to the front line “general” invites various speculations.

Commander-in-Chief Gerasimov booed by military bloggers?

The British tabloid Daily Mail sensationally reported that “Russian President Vladimir Putin demoted commander-in-chief, General Armageddon, enraged by the failed invasion of Ukraine.” In order to strategically reduce the unfavorable ground war, Mr. Slovikhin withdrew from the right bank of the Dnipro River in the southern province of Kherson and launched a concentrated attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in anticipation of the arrival of General Winter.

The new commander-in-chief was “a clear acknowledgment of the growing severity of the situation facing Russia and the fall short of Russia’s strategic objectives,” said the Defense Intelligence Service. “There will likely be a lot of booing from many of the Russian ultranationalist and military blogger communities who have blamed Gerasimov for his poor war-making capabilities,” he said.
