The Russian army is gathering forces to attack Kharkov and capture Slavyansk

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine will do everything possible to stop the invaders and protect people.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Russian army is gathering forces to attack Kharkiv and capture Slovyansk.

He stated this during speeches at the opening of the Global Policy Forum of the Institute of International Political Studies.

“Now the Russian army is trying to gather forces to attack Kharkov again. We de-occupied it, this region. And they want it again, and we see it. And there are one and a half million inhabitants. Nikolaev is constantly bombarded – and there are almost half a million inhabitants. They want to capture and completely destroy Slovyansk – there were a hundred thousand inhabitants there before the war,” Zelensky said.

The President stressed that Ukraine would do everything possible to stop the occupiers and protect people.

“But to do it faster, we need support, modern weapons. Such weapons that have more potential than the Russian army. That is why I spend so much emotion, so much time and so much effort to convince all of our partners to give us powerful weapons. It’s a matter of lives,” he said.

Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region are almost reached the border with Russia. To prevent this, the Russian military stepped up shelling.

At the same time, military expert Oleg Zhdanov believes what to expect today offensive of invaders Kharkov is not worth it.

“It’s not worth expecting an attack on Kharkov today. All that the Russian forces could do was pick up reserves and could only move us away from the state border. Then the offensive of the Russian troops was stopped and positional battles are going on there today. And we hold all the defensive lines” , the expert noted.
