The Almaz-Antey Group is a Russian-owned armaments company dealing with anti-aircraft defense systems. In the future, however, it aims to divide its portfolio so that it does not depend only on military contracts. By 2030, the share of products for civilian customers should gradually increase to 50%. The production of electric cars is to play a key role in this plan.
The planned production of electric cars is also related to this year’s approval of the government’s concept of preparing for the production and use of electric vehicles in the Russian Federation in 2030. At the same time, it is expected deliveries from abroad.

The implementation of the first electric car is already emerging. In the summer, a platform project made its debut at the Army Forum in Moscow, enabling the installation of both a purely electric drive and an electric drive with an internal combustion engine serving only as an electricity generator, as a range extender, without a mechanical connection to the wheels. Instead of a combustion unit, a hydrogen device can also be used. The electric version was to offer all-wheel drive thanks to a pair of electric motors (one for each axle), with a combined power of 320 kW.
Recently, pictures from the patent office leaked to the Internet, which indicate the appearance of the first car to use this architecture. Even the first official trailers followed.

The interior then follows today’s trends, there is both a digital instrument panel and a large, free-standing screen of the multimedia system, which is complemented by only a minimum of classic controls. The Almaz-Antey news firm says E-Neva. It is supposed to be a 4.5 meter long car, whose batteries with unspecified capacity are supposed to allow a range of up to 463 km on a single charge. The E-Neva has to manage to accelerate from 0-60 km / h in 2.7 seconds and drive at a top speed of 197 km / h, which is not a bad value for an electric car.
However, an interesting project still hides a lot of unknowns. At the moment, it is not at all clear when Almaz-Antey E-Neva should be produced and where. The armaments concern does not currently have a suitable company for the production of such a car. In addition, its construction would cost millions of rubles. But when it comes to the state project, finances are not being addressed in Russia.
