  • The Italian government last night decided on January 10 to require a vaccination pass for access to public transport, hotels, exteriors of restaurants, exhibitions and congresses, as well as swimming pools and gyms, BTA reported, citing AFP.

The ordinance on the introduction of urgent measures to limit the spread of the KOVID-19 epidemic was approved by a Council of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Mario Draghi.

Until now, it was possible to travel by train or plane after presenting a “basic” health pass issued to people who have been vaccinated or tested negative for covid.

A vaccination pass will only be issued if the vaccination cycle is completed or the child is ill.

In Italy, vaccination passes have so far been required by representatives of certain professions, such as health workers and law enforcement.

Last night, the government also decided to lift the 10-day quarantine for contacts who have been vaccinated or recovered from covid. However, for the unvaccinated, the quarantine obligation remains.

“I think it makes sense to apply different rules to those citizens who have followed government instructions, giving themselves two doses of vaccine and then a booster dose,” Deputy Health Minister Andrea Costa was quoted as saying by Reuters.
The easing of self-isolation rules aims to alleviate the situation in some areas, such as transport, which has been largely paralyzed by the absence of a significant number of quarantined staff.

There will also be restrictions on sporting events – with 35 percent of the audience when indoors and 50 percent when outdoors.

Like its European neighbors, Italy has faced increasing numbers in recent days. More than 98,000 new cases were registered yesterday.

3449 COVID patients in 24 hours

Those vaccinated with two doses in the country are nearly 80 percent, and those who have set a booster dose are about 30 percent.
