The obligation to take out an insurance policy for civil liability towards third parties has been reintroduced through the reintroduction of a rule contained in the law 169/2019.
How much does it cost to insure an electric scooter
The cost of insurance varies depending on several factorsincluding the age of the owner, the use of the vehicle and the place of use. However, according to the first estimates reported by Virgilio.itprices They don’t seem excessive.
The basic cost of a liability policy starts at approximately 50 euros per yearan affordable figure for most users. For those who want more extensive coverage, such as the Head of Family liability contract, the premium rises to approximately 80 euros per year.
However, if the electric scooter is included in pre-existing insurance, the minimum price is around 60 euro annual.
Additional options such as coverage against theft or for them injuries remain optional, leaving users the freedom to customize the contract according to their needs.
The new traffic rules
In addition to insurance, the new Highway Code introduces significant restrictions for electric scooters. Driving will no longer be permitted outside urban centreswhile on city streets the speed limit will be 50 km/h.
They also remain excluded cycle paths e pedestrian areas. The regulations will apply exclusively to privately owned scooters, excluding those in sharing.
The strict regulation aims to combat the phenomenon of “wild scooters“, ensuring greater order and safety in urban centres.
