Attention theater lovers: The Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen and the Theater Duisburg invite you to the RuhrBühnen*Spezial in September and October.
The RuhrBühnen*Spezial promises first-class entertainment again in autumn. The concept of presenting a different stage in the Ruhr area every month at a reduced price allows visitors to discover the diversity and quality of the regional theatre landscape.

THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR
The thing with the bloodthirsty plant
A plant that speaks, grows and is hungry: hungry for human flesh. This is just what flower shop employee Seymour needs. The plant was actually only meant to save Mr. Mushnik’s business from ruin; now it seems to be helping the shy botanist in matters of love too. Because its greed for human blood helps Seymour to get rid of unwanted love rivals. The goal: to win over his colleague Audrey. So it’s no surprise that her sadistic friend and dentist Orin mysteriously disappears. But the situation turns sour when the growing plant finally demands Seymour and Audrey’s flesh.
With “Little Shop of Horrors” a true cult musical is coming to Gelsenkirchen – an ideal mix of rock and comedy, which tells a wonderfully bizarre story about love, dreams and megalomania with catchy songs. Based on this music, the award-winning composer Alan Menken also conjured up musical worlds for Disney greats such as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, “Aladdin” and “Ariel”.
As part of the RuhrBühnen*Special, guests can expect the legendary strawberry blood punch as well as an exclusive meet & greet with Audrey II and the ensemble following the performance.
Special note: Due to high demand, “Little Shop of Horrors” at MiR is already sold out, as is the previous RuhrBühnen* special at the Ruhrtriennale.

FAMILY FLÖZ// HOKUSPOKUS

Since 2007, FAMILIE FLÖZ has been performing their masked theatre without language at the Duisburg Theatre on a regular basis: an extraordinary success with audiences. Six co-productions have been created. The most recent is “HOKUSPOKUS”. It brings FAMILIE FLÖZ to the Duisburg Theatre for the 100th time.
The story of creation is the starting point. In addition to the masked figures, we also see the actors behind them. Playing music, singing, filming and making noises, they create the world of masks before the eyes of the audience. Darkness turns to light and the first lovers find each other in the paradisiacal garden. They take their first steps together, seek protection from nature and, thank God, find an affordable apartment. Fate quickly draws the young couple into the rollercoaster of life – from romantic togetherness to turbulent family life with several children, from moments of pure happiness to painful blows of fate.
Before the “Hocus Pocus” performance, there is a very special highlight: a talented close-up magician enchants the audience with incredible tricks and illusions right before the eyes of the guests. It is recommended that you arrive on time so as not to miss any magical moments. A magical evening awaits everyone!
