The royal family sharply criticized the BBC film and threatened to end its cooperation with the media

The documentary is about William and Harry’s relationship with journalists

The British royal family has expressed unusually sharp dissatisfaction with a BBC documentary about Princes William and Harry, accusing the production of “presented as facts” information that is “unfounded”, AFP reported.

The first of two series of “Princes and the Media” was broadcast last night. The documentary is about William and Harry’s relationship with journalists. The sons of Crown Prince Charles often criticize the way their family is portrayed by the media.

According to the British press, the production caused dissatisfaction because it was not agreed in advance with Buckingham Palace, which even threatened to terminate cooperation with the BBC for future projects.

At the end of the film’s first series, the British royal family issued a statement saying that “free, responsible and open media are essential to a healthy democracy”.

Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Kensington issued a joint statement. “Quite often exaggerated and unfounded allegations from anonymous sources are presented as facts, and it is disappointing that some media, including the BBC, give them credibility,” it said.

The British royal court seldom allows itself to spread such a position. Now this is happening after Prince Harry has repeatedly accused the media of putting pressure on his marriage to American Megan Markle and even cited them as the reason for his decision to retire as a high-ranking member of the royal family.

He and his wife have filed several lawsuits against British tabloids. They left Britain and moved to the United States.

Relations between Buckingham Palace and the BBC have strained since an interview with Princess Diana aired more than 25 years ago. She then said that there were “three people” in her marriage, alluding to Prince Charles’ relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Lady Diana herself also admitted that she was in a love affair.
