The book was written by British writer Omid Scobie. He describes the British royal family is in crisis.
An important passage in the book is about the revelation that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made to Oprah two years ago. They said that there would be concerns within the royal family about the skin color of their son Archie before he was born.
The British press eagerly awaited the book Endgame, hoping that more would become clear about who within the royal family made the statement. There is nothing about this in the English book, the names have been removed. But in the Dutch version it is written that it was the current King Charles who made the statement.
Royal House expert Rick Evers was the first to notice this.
Legal hassle
Last night RTL Boulevard discussed how the name may have ended up in the book. Writer Scobie may have had to remove the name from his version to avoid legal hassles, but this may have been forgotten due to an error in the Dutch translation. Watch the entire fragment here (from 1 minute 40):
The Dutch publisher of Final Battle, Xander Uitgevers, immediately removed the book from the shelves after the unveiling. “An error has occurred in the Dutch edition,” the publisher said in a short statement. “A correction is being made in the translation.”
Publisher: correct passages
British author Scobie himself told RTL Boulevard that he did not mention a name in his book. “The book is in several languages and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, the publisher will correct them. I wrote the English version. There was no version from me in which names were mentioned.”
According to Xander Uitgevers, a ‘number of passages’ need to be corrected, without giving further details. It is not yet clear when the book will return to stores. More will be known about this later.
The news has now also reached England. “Scobie’s new book apparently reveals in Dutch who was ‘worried’ about Archie’s skin color,” writes The Guardian. The Express, Mail Online, The Daily Mail, The Independent and other major British newspapers also reported on the news.
Charles himself previously denied that he ever made the comment.
