The Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain awards Roco vila for her thesis on sign language and accessibility

The researcher attached to the Department of Social Sciences, Philosophy, Geography, Translation and Interpretation of the University of Córdoba (UCO), Roco vila, has received the prize from the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain (RADE) for her thesis ‘Language of signs , accessibility, technology and translation: State of the question, reflections and proposals’, obtaining an outstanding rating ‘cum laude’.

The researcher attached to the Department of Social Sciences, Philosophy, Geography, Translation and Interpretation of the University of Córdoba (UCO), Roco vila, has received the prize from the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain (RADE) for her thesis ‘Language of signs , accessibility, technology and translation: State of the question, reflections and proposals’, obtaining an outstanding rating ‘cum laude’.

As reported by the UCO in a note, the prize, endowed with 1,500 euros and to which 653 candidates applied, was delivered on January 25 at the Auditorium of the Complutense University of Madrid, on the occasion of the Opening Session of the Academic year 2023.

Specifically, Avila’s thesis received the prize in the ‘ONCE Foundation’ category, which recognizes work on improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.

The Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain is a national scientific, technical, humanistic and social corporation, with headquarters in Madrid. The call for awards, which this year has reached its XLI edition, thus coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the foundation, are intended for those theses, rated with outstanding ‘cum laude’, that are distinguished by their scientific excellence and innovative character. . Along with vila, another 15 theses have received this award.
