Over the weekend, the prestigious Red Bull 211 competition took place in Nida, where sports enthusiasts, professional athletes and everyone else who wanted to have a good time and recharge with good emotions gathered. The participants competed on a team basis in running (10 km), cycling (25 km) and rowing in a two-seater kayak (7 km).
In this pompous event, which attracted large crowds of spectators, it was also possible to meet athletes from the Klaipėda region – rowing masters Sigitas Bulovas and Verner Šermokas, who crossed the finish line in second place in the rowing event, and together with Šiauliai Donats Mickus and Dainius Mačiulis, they formed the “Elite Legends” team and won 3- this place
Sigitas and Werneris are the strongest rowing masters in Lithuania and one of the leaders on the planet, often delighting us with gold medals that they bring home from competitions held in international arenas. So, we asked who was “unsuccessful” in rowing this time.
The athletes commented that the competitors in the rowing race broke away even at the starting positions, where they needed to run a shorter distance to the kayak. Thus, they gained an advantage of several hundred meters, which could not be reduced.
Despite this, they were happy to take a respectable 3rd place. Together with the skaters of our region, we are also happy. We also wish you success in the World Rowing Masters Marathon in August. will take place in Denmark.
