The Route of the Olympic Flame in Occitania: Cities and Emblematic Sites in 2024

The Olympic flame for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will cross Occitania, a region in southern France, visiting various cities and emblematic sites along the way. The flame will pass through 400 municipalities in France over a period of 68 days, starting in Marseille on May 8, 2024.

Occitania will be the second region to witness the torch relay. The route for the flame in Occitania was unveiled recently, including the six stage cities and other municipalities that will have the honor of hosting the Olympic symbol.

In Hérault and Aveyron, the flame will arrive on May 13, 2024, starting with Montpellier as the first stop. It will then pass through the Arc de Triomphe in Montpellier and the town of Sète before heading to Millau to admire its famous viaduct.

In the Pyrenees-Orientales, the flame will spend a day in Corsica before landing in the region on May 15, 2024. It will visit eight emblematic sites, starting with the Pic du Canigo, then passing through Prades, Font-Romeu, Céret, Villeneuve de la Raho, Port-Vendres-Collioure, and finally arriving in the stopover town of Perpignan.

In the Aude, the flame will cross seven cities and remarkable sites on May 16, 2024. The exact route has not yet been decided, but it is expected to include Castelnaudary, Carcassonne, Limoux, Lagrasse, Narbonne, Gruissan, and Peyrepertuse&Quéribus. A ceremony will be held at the foot of the City of Carcassonne.

In Haute-Garonne, the municipalities that will witness the flame’s passage have not yet been announced. However, it is known that the flame will visit the Halle de Revel and make a stopover in Toulouse on May 17, 2024.

In the Gers, the flame will arrive on May 18, 2024, starting at Isle-Jourdain and passing through Mirande, Fleurance, Marciac, Condom, Nogaro, and finally reaching the stopover town of Auch. The Department of Gers has already provided the route plans for each municipality.

The flame will conclude its tour of Occitania in the Hautes-Pyrénées on May 18, 2024. It will pass through three sites and four towns, including the Pic du Midi, the Cirque de Gavarnie, the Arrêt Darré lake, Lourdes, Bagnères-de-Bigorre, Lannemezan, and finally the stopover town of Tarbes.

The flame will arrive in Occitania on Monday May 13, 2024, starting with Montpellier (stopover town). She will make a detour via the Arc de Triomphe in Montpellier then the town of Sète.

To conclude this fifth stage, the flame will go up to Millau to appreciate its famous viaduct.

In the Pyrenees-Orientales

Before continuing in Occitania, the flame will spend a day in Corsica, and finally will land in the Pyrénées-Orientales on Wednesday May 15, 2024. Eight emblematic sites will be visited.

It will start with the Pic du Canigo, then the torch will pass through Prades and Font-Romeu, leave for Céret and go up to Villeneuve de la Raho, make a detour to Port-Vendres-Collioure and finally arrive in the stopover town of Perrpignan.

In the Aude

The Department has unveiled the names of the 7 cities and remarkable sites which will be crossed on Thursday May 16, 2024, while specifying that the precise route “has not yet been decided”.

But the flame will surely greet Castelnaudary, Carcassonne (stopover town), Limoux, Lagrasse, Narbonne, Gruissan and Peyrepertuse&Quéribus. A ceremony will be expected at the foot of the City of Carcassonne.

In Haute-Garonne

The Department has not yet indicated which municipalities could see the flame pass. For the moment, we only know that she will see the Halle de Revel and that she will visit Toulouse as a stopover city, Friday May 17, 2024.

In the Gers

The flame will be in the Gers on Saturday May 18, 2024 and will begin its crossing at Isle-Jourdain. She will then go to Mirande, then Fleurance, Marciac, Condom, Nogaro and finally to Auch, the stopover town.
