The Rotary Club supports the residency project

The Rotary Club of Chartres has just granted aid of €2,000 to the association Habitat et Humanisme.

Alain Levacher, president of the Rotary Club of Chartres, presented this week a check for €2,000 to Claude Vallée, president of Habitat et Humanisme. This association worked “for the rehabilitation of the former Elizabeth-de-Thuringe home, located on Place Saint-Brice, in Chartres, to create an intergenerational residence of around thirty apartments”. A site intended to accommodate people with low resources and suffering from isolation.

Ambitious project

During the presentation, Alain Levacher indicated that the sum came from the sale, at Christmas, of 100% French and organic artisanal chocolates. A sale organized by Lionel and Geneviève Boone, which also made it possible to make a donation to the Food Bank, to Ukrainian orphans and also to participate in the financing of the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

By thanking the Rotary club for its donation, Claude Vallée gave details on the realization of this ambitious project of intergenerational residence (in the property of the Sisters of the Community of Saint-Paul) which will make it possible to accommodate twelve people in situation of precariousness, five student contributors and involved in running the residence, nine elderly couples and five single-parent families.
