Peach Kediri as tournament champion Ronaldinho Trophy returned the victory trophy in the triangular match against Rans Nusantara FC and Arema FC which took place last weekend.
The White Tiger squad emerged victorious after defeating Rans Nusantara and Arema FC on penalties.
After lifting the trophy at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Sunday (26/6) night, Persik stated that they would return the victory sign on Wednesday (29/6).
Persik seemed to disagree with the words of one of the Rans Nusantara officials who stated that the Ronaldinho Trofeo match was like a kung fu fight.
Rudy Salim as chairman of Rans Nusantara made a statement about the ‘kung fu fight’ because the competition was serious, instead of cheerful and did not provide a stage for Ronaldinho.
“That’s why, yesterday I had the wrong briefing. I said this is a fun game, it turns out that ‘next door’ might be considered a kung fu fight. So I misunderstood, it seems that yesterday was really serious, it was like the Champions League,” said Rudy.
These words sparked Persik to return the Trofeo Ronaldinho trophy. Persik parties consider there is no accusation of fighting kung fu in the match.
“The statement that the Persik Kediri team played hard and was rude which is analogous to ‘Kungfu Fight’ is a one-sided opinion without looking at the statistics and actual events seen on the gridiron,” Persik said in a post on social media.
Persik also includes match statistics such as yellow cards, red cards, and the number of violations, as a rejection of the term kung fu fighting.
The team, which was once the champion of the Indonesian League, also expressed respect for Ronaldinho’s presence during the 30-minute match.
“For this reason, we firmly and consciously return the Trofeo Nusantara with Ronaldinho Cup to the organizers to use it as well as possible,” the statement said.
