More than four years after opening, the bet paid off for The Roof-Origines in Rennes. After occupying a temporary space in the southern part of the Hôtel-Dieu, the climbing room and the micro-brewery bar will move permanently to new premises within the same site in February 2025.
With a surface area of 1,550 m2, this new space will be attached to the chapel and will be able to accommodate the climbing activities and coffee corner of The Roof as well as the microbrewery and the Origines restaurant.
Requalification
While a giant crane has just been installed within the cloister, the rehabilitation of the Hôtel-Dieu is progressing well under the project management of LinkCity. A new stage has just begun with the launch of work on the second of the three blocks in the program.
The new premises should be delivered in September 2024. The Roof-Origines teams will then need a few months to carry out the final work and finalize the move. A cessation of activities for approximately two months from December 2024 is mentioned during the transfer. “We can’t wait to be there,” comments Romain Joly, chef of the Origines restaurant. “It’s going to be crazy to finally have a place to call our own.” This is very good news, it means that the project has proven itself.”
Recently purchased by a trio of investors (Vicartem, SD2P and La Banque des Territories), the Hôtel-Dieu is expected to continue its transformation in the coming months. The end of the project – regarding the historic building part – is planned for the last quarter of 2026.
