7 people are in hospital and dozens were slightly injured after the roof of a wedding hall collapsed on the outskirts of Kardzhali. The accident happened shortly after 19:30 today. There was a wedding in the building with over 150 celebrants. While the celebration was going on, heavy rain poured over Kardzhali.

“Suddenly, water started flowing from the light openings where the orchestra was. Minutes later, part of the roof collapsed. There was complete chaos. People were struggling to get out. hurt a lot,” said a witness to what happened. According to him, the suspended ceiling, which was made of plasterboard, fell over the wedding guests.

Minutes after the incident, teams from the Emergency Medical Center, the fire department and the police arrived at the scene. The area has been canceled.

“Ambulances brought 7 injured people. Fortunately, they are not in serious condition,” said the head of the CSMP in Kardzhali, Dr. Atanas Mitkov.
